The File Transfer engine allows the following file and folder operations in both local and remote panels:

Copy and Move files and folders between the local and remote computers; delete, rename files and folders; create new folders; view properties, change attributes for files and folders.

With the File Transfer engine, you can open a document or start an executable file on a remote computer. All you need is to double click on the file. When starting an executable file, you can also specify command line parameters (if required).

File Transfer allows you to resume copying of a file after unexpected network failures. The copying can be resumed from the spot where the failure interrupted the transfer, instead of starting all over from the beginning. If you want to resume copying of a file after a reconnection is completed, just drag the file and drop it to the same location. The program will inform you that the partially copied file already exists and offer you either to resume the copying or to start it all over, from the very beginning. This feature is very useful when copying large files. Should you need to leave your office, you can pause copying then resume it next day from the point where you paused it.

Anyplace Control software is programmed to compress files before transferring them between the computers. It uses a very fast compression algorithm, which gives a good compression ratio. It minimizes your network traffic; decreases your network load, and greatly speeds up data transfer in low-bandwidth networks. The data flows between the computers in a compressed form and thus has decreased size.

Our File Transfer engine is intellectual enough: it "knows" the most popular compressed files extensions such as zip, jpg, gif, avi, etc. If any of the files contain these elements, the software would not compress them again, thus avoiding the loss of time for useless activity.

The compression feature makes Anyplace Control software different from many competitive solutions. Usually, competitors' file transfer algorithms do not compress files before transmitting them over the network. Thus, the transfer time can be very long especially for low-bandwidth networks. At the same time, our File Transfer engine compresses files and thus greatly speeds up the transfer time

Our File Transfer engine continuously evaluates the speed of connection in certain time intervals. It dynamically changes the size of its own data buffer in order to reach the maximum speed of data transfer.

According to independent tests, Anyplace Contrrol file transfer algorithm works faster than most of the competitive programs such as FTP, Remote Administrator, VNC, etc.

Why?

Usually, our competitors' programs use a fixed size data buffer. That is inefficient because if your connection speed is high and the buffer size is small, the transfer rate will not reach its possible maximum. Our software, on the other hand, dynamically chooses the size of its data buffer depending on connection speeds and other parameters. Thus, Anyplace Control reaches the maximum speed for file transfer.

Other than that, competitors' programs transfer each file as a separate network message and wait for its delivery confirmation. If you need to transfer a large number batch of small files, this will greatly slow down the performance as the delivery confirmation from the remote side will be required for each file. Anyplace Control software works in a different way. It can send several files simultaneously in a single network message. It can place as many small files into a single network message as the size of the data buffer allows. Networks with high bandwidth have large data buffers. It will greatly speed up the performance due to the decreased number of individual network messages (and delivery confirmations) sent via the network.

While using Anyplace Control you are not required to make your folders public. You have full access to the files on remote computers, but in the Network Places these folders remain unshared.
