Avoid unintended shut-down of remote PC

Dear all,

this may be a stupid question, but probably there is some answer to it:

I'm using Anyplace Control to access my PC at work from my laptop at home. Everything is working fine as long as my work PC is switched on. But sometimes (about once a month or so) somebody unintentionally switches my remote PC off. This can be some cleaning staff unplugging the PC for a very short while (because they need the power socket for their vacuum cleaner) or some work colleague who searches something on my desk and touches the on/ off button. If this happens, I need to go to work and switch the PC on again in order to make the remote connection work. This is evidently especially an issue when I'm out of town and won't be back in the office for a couple of days or so ...

My question: Is there any way to automatically re-start my PC when it has been physically switched off (either by cutting power for a couple of minutes or pushing the on/ off button)? Note that I do not have Administrator rights on my work PC and it is running on Windows XP. Also note that the PC is truly switched off and not just in hibernation state.

As I said, probably a stupid question, but probably not ...

There could be a solution - but it requires you and your remote PC to be in one local network. You could turn it on if WAKE-ON-LAN feature is enabled in remote PC's BIOS.
Unfortunately as you are using internet connection to access your remote PC, there is no an alternative solution to the problem you have described, except to call someone to turn in on.
