I understand that each host licence is locked to the "hardware ID" of the host.

What PC hardware components can be changed without affecting this ID and hence the licence for that PC?

I frequently reconfigure some of my PCs with different drives, memory modules, network interfaces, video adapters etc, and need to understand which hardware changes will affect the licence.

I also use a "Raid1- mirroring" arrangement for the boot drives - does booting from the 'mirror drive' affect the "hardware ID" ?
If one of the redundant boot drives fails and is replaced does this affect the "hardware ID" ?

Could you please be more exact about which hardware components do affect the Hardware ID?

You say that 'Audio/Video components change do not affect Hardware ID.' - Does this mean that changing any other type of component does affect the ID?
For example:
1. Change or add memory modules?
2. Remove or add a hard drive?
3. Remove or add a network interface card?
4. Change or add a DVD drive?

I frequently reconfigure the hardware on my computers in this way and would like to know that I do not need to purchase a new host licence every time a change is made.

A 'mirror drive' is a separate physical hard drive from the boot hard drive that maintains a disk image (exact copy) of the boot hard drive.
If the boot hard drive fails, then the PC can be booted from the 'mirror drive', without having to reinstall the operating system and all the application software.
The failed hard drive can then be replaced with a new hard drive (which now becomes the 'new' mirror drive).
This arrangement provides redundancy in the case of a hard drive failure.
