Trial software expiration in one day
We have received the following mail from a trial user:
Yesterday I downloaded a 30 day trial copy of Anyplace Control. My first surprise was that with Opera as my default browser it wouldn’t work. I guessed this was the problem and made Firefox my default browser. Using it for a while, I discovered that a file transfer would be interrupted if the computer was scheduled to go into sleep mode since it evidently could not detect that the running process should specifically prevent this from happening. Then I decided to transfer a large file of 1.5Gb to a friend during the night while neither of us would be inconvenienced by not being able to use the computer. Not only did this file transfer fail but the next day it told me my trial period was over. I could no longer use the program. A 30 day trial had ended in ONE DAY. Then my Firewall told me that its .inf file had been tampered with. A scan of my C drive found a Trojan. (amazing that one of the few Trojans that ever has appeared on my computer in the last 10 years just happens to be there after I download your software.
Your web site offers the possibility of a Free copy for putting good comments on Facebook, Twitter or blogs and positive comments on your own site. Now ask yourself, if positive comments are needed, how much worse negative comments could be. How do you think the user community would react if I were to relate my experiences with your product at every software review website on the internet that I could find? Would that be good for business?
So, let me give you the benefit of the doubt for the next 24 hours. Anyone can make a mistake and perhaps these bad experiences are all just one enormous mistake. One which you would like to correct to make sure your reputation is intact and your customers are happy. Well, if this was a mistake you wish to rectify, you may reply to me at this e-mail address. You will have a lot of explaining to do, an apology will also be expected, and recognition of the inconvenience caused by the sudden interruption of service compensated for with low or no cost copies free of viruses or Trojans is also expected. In the absence of a reply in 24 hours I will begin disseminating my experience with your software throughout the internet.
